A late Luke Robinson solo try helped clinch a thrilling win for Salford to move them up to fifth place in the Super League. Robinson took advantage of a gap in the Bradford defence to go over with just over 10 minutes remaining.
Salford had capitalised on Brett Ferres' first half sin-binning to take a 11-4 interval lead with Junior Langi scoring two quick tries.
Ferres and Ben Harris hit back for the Bulls but Salford held on for the win.
The Reds had fallen behind early as Andrew Dunemann's speculative pass was intercepted by Karl Pryce, who raced away to score.
But the home side withstood the early pressure and when Ferres was sinbinned for interference, Aaron Moule sent Langi over for his fourth try of the season and David Hodgson converted to give them a 6-4 lead.
Salford grabbed a second try moments later with Robinson setting up Langi to score again and Andrew Dunemann notched a drop goal just before half-time to edge them further ahead.
The visitors began to mount serious pressure after the break with Ferres and Harris scoring to set up a dramatic finale.
But Robinson claimed his solo effort and Stephen Myler added the conversion to edge his side in front.
Paul Deacon failed to land a drop goal with two minutes remaining and Salford hung on to record a memorable victory.
Salford coach Karl Harrison "Our aim for some time has been to beat one of the big teams at home but we made it hard for ourselves.
"We were pretty solid and took our chances when they were needed.
"Bradford could have pinched it late on but it was a real gutsy performance by our side."
Bradford coach Steve McNamara "We competed really well but our last plays were poor and we let them off the hook.
"We conceded two tries when we had a man in the sinbin and we didn't have much luck.
"There were a couple of contentious decisions but we weren't clinical enough
and the end to our sets was poor."
