 | MATCH SUMMARY Hull 28 (18) Tries: Tony, Horne, Domic, Lee, Blacklock Goals: Cooke 4 Castleford 10 (6) Tries: Henderson, Fa'aoso Goal: Brough |
Hull sealed a club record 10th straight win after recovering from an appalling start to ease past Castleford. The Tigers scored after just 16 seconds through Andy Henderson but Hull hit back with a quickfire double from Motu Tony and Richard Horne.
After that, they were rarely troubled again, conceding just one more try from Richard Fa'aoso.
Meanwhile, Hull's Sid Domic added another before the break, before Tommy Lee and Nathan Blacklock scored.
Hull only really suffered one howler throughout the game when Paul Cooke spilled the kick-off and allowed Henderson to dive over following Danny Nutley's pass.
After that, though, Cas' discipline fell apart and they repeatedly conceded penalties, paving the way for Tony's opening try for the hosts.
Horne clinched the try of the night moments later with a superb solo run from 20 metres and the Tigers never looked likely of troubling Hull again.
Their frustration spilled over at the end of the half and Fa'aoso was sin-binned on the interval after sparking a fracas, while Hull's Cooke was also temporarily sent packing.
Fa'aoso, though, made amends with a try of his own before Lee and Blacklock wrapped up the victory late on.
Hull coach Peter Sharp:
"It was a tough old game. To a man they are disappointed with the way they played but we have won 10 games in a row.
"At times we have been severely depleted by injuries so we have to take our hats off to these people and give them a pat on the back."
Castleford coach Terry Matterson:
"We cannot afford to concede that many penalties against a side like that.
"We created enough opportunities during the match and had enough field position to score points but we kept inviting them to score.
"We just need to cling on to that sort of effort."
