Hull 30-16 Harlequins
MATCH SUMMARY
Hull: (18) 30
Tries: Tony, R Horne 2, Whiting, G Horne
Goals: Cooke 5
Harlequins: (6) 16
Tries: Dorn 2, Randall
Goals: Paul 2
Hull claimed a ninth straight Super League victory with a comfortable success over Harlequins.

Quins took an early lead through a Luke Dorn try but scores from Motu Tony and two from Richard Horne gave Hull a deserved half-time advantage.

Chad Randall capitalised on a Paul Cooke mistake to give Quins hope.

But Richard Whiting and Graeme Horne responded to allow the home side to equal the club record for consecutive Super League wins.

The only down-side for the hosts was winger Gareth Raynor being ruled out of selection for an undisclosed disciplinary matter. "He knows what the rules are and he broke them," said coach Peter Sharp.

  • Hull coach Peter Sharp:
"It was a bit of a slug fest. You have to attribute a bit of that to the other side and their tactics.

"They played a slow type of game which didn't really suit us but we got the result. If they were a cricket side they would get fined for a slow over rate.

"We expected that and that's what we got. It was a pretty dour old game but I never felt as though they put us under any pressure. I thought we had their measure."

  • Harlequins coach Tony Rea:
"I think (Sharp's) are boring and pathetic comments. It's nothing we practise and sometimes I think coaches are better off worrying about their own side rather than worrying us. I won't cop that.

"We didn't play well enough tonight. We were an inch away from being where we wanted to be.

"The penalty count had a lot to do with that. The players that were out there should have done a job."

Hull: Tony, Blacklock, Domic, Whiting, Dixon, Cooke, R. Horne, Dowes, Swain, Carvell, Radford, McMenemy, Washbrook.
Replacements: G. Horne, King, Lee, Wheeldon.

Harlequins: Paul, Wells, Lucky Luisi, Smith, Bradley-Qalilawa, Weisner, Dorn, Temata, Randall, Mills, Purdham, Haumono, Mbu.
    Replacements: Tookey, Heckenberg, Lolohea, Budworth.

    Referee: K Kirkpatrick (Warrington)
