 | Wakefield (24) 42 Tries: Halpenny, Tadulala, Rooney 2, Atkins, Demetriou, White Goals: Rooney 7 Harlequins (12) 22 Tries: T Leuluai 2, L Dorn, M McLinden Goals: Purdham 3 | Wakefield Wildcats held off a spirited second-half fightback by Harlequins to clinch a hard-fought victory. They led 24-12 at the break after tries from Colum Halpenny, Semi Tadulala, Jamie Rooney and Ryan Atkins, with Thomas Leuluai scoring twice for Quins. Luke Dorn and Mark McLinden scores brought Quins within two points at the start of the second half. But a second try from Rooney and further tries from Jason Demetriou and Paul White put the result beyond doubt. Wakefield boss Tony Smith: "I think what we've done today is we've shown a lot of character, we've put to bed the fact that a lot of people think we're a first-half team. "Harlequins came back and I'm sure there were a lot of people thinking, 'here we go again'. "They were pressing us but we held them out in defence and showed great character to come back and play the attacking football that we're trying to introduce." Quins coach Tony Rea: "It was always going to be a contest but we lost control of a ball game that we really shouldn't have lost control of. "We shot ourselves in the foot near the end with a heavy penalty count against, and we just kept coming up with stupid errors that kept inviting them into the ball game and they were more than happy to accept the invitation. "Perhaps it was a lack of concentration. They (the Quins players) probably got ahead of themselves with a couple of wins recently."
