Hull secured a second straight win to continue their revival under caretaker coach Richard Agar against Wakefield.

Kirk Yeaman clinched victory with the third try of a hat-trick near the end, with Nathan Blacklock grabbing a brace.

Motu Tony also got on the scoresheet in an entertaining second half, in which Trinity, 14-12 adrift at half-time, refused to lie down.

Tries from Jason Demetriou, Sam Obst, Jamie Rooney and Paul White kept them in touch but Hull eventually prevailed.

Agar, who started his temporary reign with an impressive win at Huddersfield on Friday, will now lead his troops to the south of France to face Catalans Dragons on Saturday, before handing over to the incoming Peter Sharp.

Sharp will no doubt be relishing the prospect of working with Richard Horne, who marked his 200th club appearance with an outstanding display.

  • Hull caretaker coach Richard Agar:

"We have had a big month both emotionally and physically, so I would rather talk the performance up rather than down.

"Wakefield are the sort of team that, if you invite them into your half, they will score points - and that is what happened at times.

"We might have been better served to show a little more patience at times.

"Maybe there was a bit of over-confidence on occasions. We asked the players to do the extra yards over Easter when we were in the trenches together and that's what they have done."

  • Wakefield coach Tony Smith:

"What a player Kirk Yeaman is. People say that he is an up-and-coming player but I think he is already there.

"I thought we deserved something from the game. I am disappointed not to come away with anything after the effort we put in.

"I thought one or two crucial decisions went against us, but credit to Hull as they saw us off at the end."

    Replacements: Obst, MacGillivray, Wrench, Catic.
