Second placed Hull made it 15 wins in 16 games as they pushed clear of third placed Leeds with a comfortable win at Cup finalists Huddersfield.
Motu Tony's early try set the tone for a Hull-dominated half, with Shayne McMenemy's try and Paul Cooke's kicking giving them a 14-0 half-time lead.
Graham Horne added another try before Stuart Jones and Andy Raleigh touched down to make the score less one-sided.
Shaun Briscoe's late try killed off any slim hopes of a Huddersfield revival.
Huddersfield coach Jon Sharp on captain Chris Thorman's hamstring injury:
"He has tightened his hamstrings. He wasn't able to go on and we have some concerns over him.
"He felt it before the game and it gradually got worse before the game so we had to pull him. It's not looking too good at this stage.
"The next week is going to be critical for us."
Hull coach Peter Sharp: "I thought it was a gutsy win against a tough side at a tough place to play. I'm very happy, particularly with a great first half.
"The first 20 minutes was as good as I have seen.
"We control our own destiny as far as where we finish in the competition. It's a nice position to be in."
