Jamie Rooney's hat-trick ensured Wakefield kept their survival hopes alive against bottom side Catalans.
Jason Demetriou and Ryan Atkins went over when Catalans had players in the sin bin, and Rooney's first try gave Wakefield a comfortable half-time lead.
Slack defending let in Mark Hughes to score for Catalans before Sam Obst's sprint set up Rooney's second.
Stacey Jones pulled a try back before Rooney sealed the win to lift spirits ahead of Friday's visit of Leeds.
Wakefield coach John Kear: "Jamie was superb - I don't like to pick out individuals but he was first class, said Kear after Rooney scored 26 points and a hat-trick of tries.
"He is maturing into a very clever player. His game is blossoming."
Kear added: "It was all about getting two points, to hang on to the other teams' coat tails - and we did that with a battling performance."
