 | MATCH SUMMARY Salford (0) 0 Bradford (16) 58 Tries: L Pryce, K Pryce 3, Pratt, Deacon 3, Parker, Vainikolo 2 Goals: Deacon 7 |
Teenage centre Karl Pryce scored his first hat-trick to lead Bradford to an 11-try romp over Salford. However, it was Salford who made the brighter start and Bradford had to wait until 28 minutes for their first points which came from a Leon Pryce try.
Karl Pryce and Karl Pratt added first-half tries before Bradford ran riot after the break.
Paul Deacon also shone with a hat-trick and seven goals while Rob Parker and Lesley Vainikolo (twice) also crossed.
Bulls coach Brian Noble was delighted with both his side's start and their defensive efforts which kept their line intact.
"The way we started the game was terrific," he said. "We set our stall out
to do certain things and it worked for us. It's a young team as well, which
makes it even more pleasing.
"The zero pleased us as much as the attack. We're not there yet but I'm
really pleased for a lot of the players. It was a big plus for everybody's
attitude."
Salford coach Karl Harrison admitted he was "embarrassed" by his team's performance.
The Reds went into the match with the second-best defensive record in the
Super League but conceded 11 tries. "I thought for 30 minutes we played really well and even at half-time I
thought we were in with a chance.
"It was embarrassing but that can happen in the modern game to anybody. When a team get a roll-on like that, they are very difficult to stop," he said.
