Bradford chairman Chris Caisley has criticised the decision to allow
London Broncos to wipe out 3m of debt. Two weeks ago, Super League clubs voted by a majority to allow the Broncos to continue competing under the control of a new company after liquidation.
Caisley said: "I never cease to be amazed by the 'goings-on' in league.
"Many businesses face difficulties but we ought not to celebrate when those problems are overcome by simply walking away from them."
Around half of the 3m is thought to have been owed to the Inland Revenue and not all clubs were in favour of the reprieve, at least without some
form of punishment.
Bradford were one of the clubs to have voted against the proposal.
"A club that has left the Inland Revenue with a 1.5m debt and moved its players to a new debt-free company gets royally applauded in the media for
surmounting its financial difficulties," said Caisley.
"The business is then allowed to freely compete in the Super League
competition and to do so without penalty.
"Bizarrely, not only is the new entrant not penalised, it is 'given' the four
competition points which were earned by the old club!
"Such is a snapshot of a week in the life of the London Broncos."
