Leeds Rhinos have confirmed the signing of Bradford captain Jamie Peacock for next season. The Leeds-born second rower and Great Britain vice-captain has signed a four-year deal to start next season.
Bradford brought an end to months of speculation on Wednesday when they announced that the 27-year-old would be leaving the club.
"I feel that now is the right time in my career to move on and join the Rhinos," said Peacock.
Peacock goes to Headingley as a direct replacement for Australian Chris McKenna, who is leaving the club at the end of this season.
He spent nine years at Odsal after joining from Leeds amateur club Stanningley in 1997, but rejected the offer of a new contract with the Bulls.
He made his 200th appearance for the Bulls against the Rhinos in a 42-10 victory at Headingley a fortnight ago and has scored 39 tries.
"I am very proud to have played and achieved so much with Bradford," he added.
"I am looking forward to joining Leeds for next season but will continue to give 100% for the Bulls until then."
Peacock won every trophy in the British game during his time with the Bulls, with successes in the Challenge Cup, Super League Grand Final and World Club Challenge.
He also took the Man of Steel prize in 2003, the year Bradford achieved a remarkable clean sweep of all the trophies.
"Jamie is a player I have admired for a long time," admitted Leeds coach Tony Smith.
"He is a former Man of Steel and is always regarded in that category. I am looking forward to coaching him. He is a no-nonsense competitor who will add experience and competition within our squad."
Peacock becomes Leeds' third signing for 2006, following the acquisition of Widnes hooker Shane Millard and Manly winger Scott Donald.
