Widnes Vikings have confirmed the signing of former Wigan second row forward Andrew Isherwood from Leigh.

The 22-year-old, who was a member of the Centurions' beaten Northern Ford Premiership Grand Final team, has agreed a two-year contract with the Super League club.

"We have watched Andrew's form in the NFP and felt he had done enough to warrant another shot at Super League," said Widnes coach Neil Kelly.

"He is tough and fast and will be a big asset to our pack this season."

Isherwood will have to serve a three-match ban, the result of a high tackle in Leigh's 38-16 defeat by Huddersfield, before he can make his Widnes debut.

The Vikings are also close to sealing a move for Australian former London Broncos' forward Shane Millard, 27, who played for St George Illawarra this year.

They also plan to give a trial to Australian back row forward Simon Finnegan, a member of the Penrith Panthers reserve-grade side.

Finnegan, 20, holds a British passport and, therefore, does not count on the club's overseas quota.
