Sculthorpe happy at Saints
Paul Sculthorpe in action against Australia
Sculthorpe is Britain's top performer
Paul Sculthorpe has indicated he could be ready to pledge his long-term future to St Helens.

The Great Britain star has two years to run on his current deal but has told BBC Sport Online he would be willing to talk with the Super League club about a new contract.

I want to keep on improving - and I think I can do that under Ian
Paul Sculthorpe

"If they want to tie me up on a long-term deal, I'll be ready to listen," said the 24-year-old loose-forward.

Sculthorpe, who also plays at stand-off, says Ian Millward's influence as coach is one of the factors that could persuade him to stay at Knowsley Road.

"He gets the best out of players and that's what I need in a coach," said Sculthorpe.

"I want to keep on improving - and I think I can do that under Ian."

Sculthorpe became the game's most expensive forward in 1997 when he moved from Warrington to Saints for 370,000.

And he is now regarded as one of Britain's top performers, having picked up several accolades in recent seasons.

He was voted Super League Man of Steel in 2001 and also landed the Rugby League Players Association's Player of the Year.

He was one of only a handful of players to emerge with any credit from the 64-10 hammering by Australia in July.
