Lockyer scored the winning try in the Tri-Nations final |
Australia captain Darren Lockyer has set his sights on the World Club Challenge against St Helens in February after undergoing wrist surgery. The Brisbane Broncos star damaged his wrist in July but put off surgery until the end of the season.
"I am concentrating on resting up, getting this wrist right and enjoying my time away from footy," he said.
"But at the back of my mind is the World Club Challenge. That trophy would complete a fantastic 12 months."
Lockyer will wear a plastic cast for the next month before he starts his programme of rehabilitation.
The Broncos take on Saints at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton on 23 February.
The 29-year-old enjoyed a brilliant season in 2006, winning the Golden Boot as the international player of the year.
Lockyer also claimed the NRL Grand Final with Brisbane, the State of Origin with Queensland and the Tri-Nations with Australia.
