Jones is one of the Kiwis' most influential players |
New Zealand scrum-half Stacey Jones is to come out of retirement for the fourth time in two months for Friday's game with France in Toulouse. The 29-year-old star, who came out of retirement for the Tri-Nations, has been released by club side Les Catalans because of Nigel Vagana's one-game ban.
"They had agreed to let Stacey help out should Nigel be suspended so that will happen," said coach Brian McClennan.
The Kiwis will be without Manu Vatuvei, Paul Rauhihi and Roy Asotasi.
But captain Ruben Wiki should be fit to lead the side despite having surgery on a broken nose.
Several English-based players like Robbie Paul were added to the squad for the recent one-off game with England, but McClennan said he was confident their squad was strong enough to avoid any problems.
"It's good to know we have those boys available but we haven't got that many injuries that we don't have enough cover," said McClennan.
