Tri-Nations eyes Manchester final
Darren Lockyer lifts the Tri-Nations trophy
Australia skipper Darren Lockyer lifts the Tri-Nations trophy
This year's Tri-Nations Series final could take place at the City of Manchester Stadium because Elland Road in Leeds is too small.

Elland Road has a 39,000 capacity, which meant many fans were unable to get tickets for last year's showpiece between Great Britain and Australia.

The Manchester venue holds 48,500 and would attract a sell-out crowd as long as the Lions reached the final.

Officials are also planning to stage another Tri-Nations game in London.

Britain will host one less game this year following the decision to stage both Australia-New Zealand contests down under.

But last year's Antipodean clash at Loftus Road which attracted a capacity crowd of 16,750 has convinced the Rugby Football League to make use of the capital again.
