Calderwood scored 28 tries in the 2005 Super League season |
Leeds captain Kevin Sinfield has tipped team-mate Mark Calderwood to bounce back after his omission from Great Britain's Gillette Tri-Nations squad. Super League's leading tryscorer was left out of Brian Noble's 24-man squad but has been picked for England.
"In a 24-man squad, there will usually be some injuries," said Sinfield.
"If Mark puts in some good performances for England and there is a chance of bringing another winger into the squad, he will want to be the one."
Sinfield added: "As a fellow Leeds player, I'm disappointed Mark hasn't made it."
"Making the GB squad has been a big target for Mark and some of his performances during the season have been outstanding," said Sinfield.
Calderwood, who will play with Wigan next season, has been named in Karl Harrison's 21-man England squad for games against France and New Zealand.
