Chad Grant kicked two of Coventry's four conversions |
Coventry Bears were undone by a late conversion as they lost 30-28 to Hemel Stags at the Butts Park Arena. Tries from Aaron Higgins and Chad Grant were not enough for the home side in the first half as they trailed 18-10 at the break. After the interval there were three more tries for Bears courtesy of Mike Venn, Matt Cooper and Harry Kaufman. But at the death Stags went over twice, with Ryan Butcher holding his nerve to kick the winner. Coventry head coach Alan Robinson said: "What a disappointment. We showed great spirit to come back from being under the cosh in the first half, to be the best team in the second half. "The Stags have a little bit more experience than us in this division and their composure under pressure was the difference between the two teams. "We will learn from this and move on."
