York City Knights have signed Joe Hemmings on a professional contract after he impressed for the club's reserve side. The 22-year-old forward played for York amateur club New Earswick All Blacks before moving to the Knights. He has agreed terms until the end of the 2012 season. Knights general manager Ian Wilson said: "Joe has demonstrated an excellent attitude since he came to the club at the start of the season." Wilson added: "His performances, especially in recent weeks, have been first class. "I am sure that if he keeps working hard he will be able to make the step up to first grade".
