Doncaster (4) 10 Tries: Spaven 2 Goals: Doebeck
Wakefield (18) 50 Tries: Amor, Griffin 2, Murphy, Henderson, Morton, Dean, Veivers 2 Goals: Veivers 7
Wakefield full-back Josh Veivers served up a 22-point haul to help his team to an ultimately comfortable Challenge Cup fourth round victory at Doncaster. The Wildcats youngster, signed from Wigan's academy back in October, ran in two tries and kicked seven goals. Home scrum-half Scott Spaven scored two tries for Doncaster. Wakefield ran in nine tries in reply, Josh Griffin (2), Kyle Amor, Aaron Murphy, Kevin Henderson, Dale Morton and Chris Dean also crossing. But it was not until the final half-hour at the Keepmoat Stadium that the Wildcats ran away with it.
Doncaster coach Tony Miller: "The difference was the final 10 or 15 minutes and I don't think the score reflected the effort we put in. "No problems that we got beaten, but people looking at the score would think that we were never in it but we certainly were." Wakefield coach John Kear: "I would like to compliment Doncaster. They turned up and put a massive effort in. They made it really tough and it was only in the last 15 minutes or so that we pulled away. "We went away from some of the things we have done really well recently in Super League. Whether we became mentally soft and didn't respect the opposition, I don't know, but there was obviously a problem there. "At half-time we attempted to address that and batten down the hatches and play as we had practised. The pleasing thing was that we tightened up defensively and we scored some good tries."
