In each of his three seasons, Hicks finished as the Wolves top try scorer |
Former Warrington winger Chris Hicks has agreed a one-year deal with Australian NRL side Parramatta Eels after opting against retirement. The 33-year-old, who ran in a hat-trick at Wembley in August in Warrington's second successive Challenge Cup win, had originally intended to retire. That allowed Wolves coach Tony Smith to bring in new centre Joel Monaghan. But, having sealed a return down under, Hicks is now expected to finalise his move to Sydney on Christmas Eve. "I can't wait to return to Australia and play under Stephen Kearney," Hicks told Sportsnewsfirst.com.au. "Having the chance to play alongside superstars like Jarryd Hayne and Nathan Hindmarsh has got me excited and I'm ready for a successful year with the Eels." Hicks will help plug the gap caused by the release of Timana Tahu and retirement of Eric Grothe Jnr at Parramatta. The former Manly Sea Eagles man joined Warrington in 2008 and has enjoyed a successful three seasons at the Haillwell Jones. He ran in 53 tries in 69 super League appearances, as well as helping Warrington to back-to back wins at Wembley.
