Hicks won the Challenge Cup with Wolves last season |
Warrington Wolves winger Chris Hicks has signed a new one-year contract with the Super League club. The 33-year-old Australian, who has scored 23 tries this year, has spent the past three seasons with the Wolves after spells with Penrith and Manly. Hicks was a member of the Wolves side that won the Challenge Cup in 2009. "I am very happy to be staying at the Wolves for another year. We have a great squad and very good coaching staff," said Hicks. Hicks initially began his Warrington career at full-back and made an instant impression with 10 tries in his first seven games but has since reverted to his original position. | 606: DEBATE |
Warrington are enjoying a fine season and are currently second in the Super League. "I can see no reason why we cannot challenge for titles next year," added Hicks. And coach Tony Smith is happy Hicks has been rewarded for his excellent form and fitness. "He plays a big role in the way we are going as a club," said Smith. "He has been able to stay pretty much injury free and having relinquished his kicking duties he has probably prolonged his career. "He has shown he is still a terrific finisher and a very solid member of our team."
