Widnes have completed the signing of Samoan international Tangi Ropati ahead of the 2011 season. The 25-year-old former Sheffield Eagles utility back has signed a one-year deal with the option of a second year. "I've heard a great deal from many people involved in the game, just how professional Widnes are as a club both on and off the field," said Ropati. "To be a part of this type of environment is something that I'm genuinely excited about." He added: "For a club like Widnes to not only show an interest in me, but to actually take me on, is an overwhelming experience and I can't wait to get started and hopefully repay the faith that they have shown in me." Head coach Paul Cullen was pleased with his signing. "Tangi is a powerful, dynamic and skilful centre who will have a massive impact in our three quarter line," he said. "He ticks all our on and off-field boxes, and we are delighted with his capture. Our rebuild continues." Widnes have also concluded deals for Steve Tyrer, Chaz I'Anson and Macgraff Leuluai during this close season.
