Thorman missed the Knights' game against Swinton |
York City Knights hope the groin injury suffered by player/assistant coach Chris Thorman is not as bad as initially feared. Thorman aggravated the problem in the game against Rochdale after picking up the injury at Doncaster in March. Coach James Ratcliffe told BBC Radio York: "He's having a scan but he actually feels a lot better than what he initially first thought. "So it may not be the month I thought it would be." Ratcliffe added: "It may just be another week or so but one thing we are conscious of is that we probably brought him back a week too early by his own admission when we played Crusaders. | We're actively looking for an out and out half back |
"He should have probably left it another week. So we're not going to rush him back this week. We want him here long term rather than just two weeks." Ratcliffe said the coaching staff are trying to solve the problem of finding a settled pairing at half-back. "Everybody will always have a favourite half-back and a favourite player in each position. "But unfortunately we've not been able to get a settled half-back partnership with Chris being injured. "Casey Bromilow's not playingthat well at the moment, Jonathan Schofield's not played particularly well when he's played, so it's still up for grabs. "We're actively looking for an out-and-out half back. We'll keep looking all the time."
