Wigan fans support their team at last year's event |
Former Wigan and St Helens coach Ian Millward will be part of the BBC Radio 5 live sports extra team for the Magic Weekend, which takes place in Murrayfield this weekend. Millward, who is now in charge of Leigh, will join Stuart Pyke and Dave Woods for commentary of Leeds v Wakefield on Saturday from 1845 BST and then on Sunday from 1545 for Wigan v Huddersfield (kick-off 1600) and St Helens v Hull KR (kick-off 1800). As always, the team want to hear your views, so get in touch via text on 84040, e-mail [email protected] and via twitter @stuartpykesport. To give you something to get your teeth into, read Millward's take on the weekend's action.
I've not experienced the Magic Weekend before, so I'm really looking forward to it. I've been to Murrayfield before, of course. I was coach of St Helens when they were beaten by Wigan in 2002 Challenge Cup final. It was the only final I lost at Saints so it will be interesting to see if I break out into a cold sweat when I return there on Saturday. As for the three games I'll be commentating on for 5 live, the first one between Leeds and Wakefield is massive for both clubs. | I'm looking forward to seeing Kyle Eastmond in action... I think his speed and agility will be too much for Hull KR |
Leeds need to find their consistency if they are to move into the top eight, but Wakefield, who currently lie above the Rhinos in the table, have a good record against their Headingley rivals. I think the first of Sunday's two commentary games for 5 live has the potential to be the best of the weekend. Wigan need to bounce back from last week's defeat to Harlequins while Huddersfield ooze skill and attacking flamboyancy. As for St Helens against Hull KR, well, I'm going for a Saints victory. The Robins have dipped a bit over the last few weeks and need to win to keep up their challenge for the top eight. The half-back and dummy-half play from Saints will be important. I'm looking forward to seeing Kyle Eastmond in action. I think his speed and agility will be too much for Hull KR.
