Widnes coach Paul Cullen hails Sheffield Eagles win
Cullen has guided his side to a 100% start to the season
Widnes Vikings coach Paul Cullen hailed his side's battling 44-30 Championship victory at Sheffield Eagles on Sunday as a "big achievement."
The win left Widnes top of the table on points scored.
"They're tough and vigorous and we almost started a fight that we didn't win," Cullen told BBC Radio Merseyside after the game.
"But to go away from here with the three points and they get no bonus points is a big achievement."
He added: "We were a little bit scruffy early on and our discipline wasn't were we wanted it to be but they're a very decent side."
Next up for the Vikings is an away trip to Halifax - a match Cullen thinks will be a close call.
"They really don't get any easier and Halifax are in good form," he continued.
"If we consider we've beaten Sheffield and Sheffield have beaten Halifax so far this season - if that is any indication of how the game is going to be played then we know we're in for a rough and tough and intense contest."
