Harlequins (8) 16 Tries: Sharp(3) Goals: Orr (2)
Dragons (4) 4 Tries: Greenshields
Sharp's tries gave Harlequins their first win since June |
Will Sharp scored a hat-trick of tries as Harlequins powered to their first win of the season against Catalans. Danny Orr played a key role in Sharp's first two scores - the second an acrobatic touchdown from a high kick. Clint Greenshields went over for Catalans to level at 4-4 but Sharp hit back before half-time. A darting run from Ben Jones-Bishop paved the way for Sharp to cross the try-line for a third time before Orr converted and then scored a penalty. Late on Catalans prop David Ferriol was sent off for swinging a punch at Jason Golden.
Harlequins coach Brian McDermott: "Will is much more than just a fast bloke. He is a bit of a freak really and he does things other players cannot. "He is like a cat in a way - you can throw him around or up in the air and he always seems to land on his feet. "He did not have the best of times last year - few of our players did - but he seems back to his best. Catalan coach Kevin Walters: "I thought the scoreline flattered us. We knew it was going to be difficult after what had happened to Quins last week and they came at us. "The turnovers killed us today and we cannot really have any complaints. "I didn't really see the sending-off but I don't think it affected the result in any way."
