Thorman played for Hull FC in Super League in 2009 |
York City Knights assistant coach Chris Thorman is relishing the prospect of taking on former Super League team-mate Robbie Paul in the Northern Rail Cup. The Knights are at home to Leigh on Sunday and Thorman will be up against Paul at half-back. Thorman told BBC Radio York: "He's pretty much one of my best friends. "I know what a thorough and professional athlete he is. He leaves no stone unturned when it comes to his rugby and in his preparations." Thorman and Paul played together at Huddersfield Giants and this is the first time the pair have played against each other outside Super League. | We're excited for this Sunday. Thorman added: "Coupled with that is Ian Millward, who is an outstanding coach and has a really good CV to match. "He was coach of Wigan and St Helens in the Super League so we know it's going to be a massive challenge." The Knights will go into the game as the underdogs against the Championship club, but Thorman says all the players are looking forward to the game. "We're excited for this Sunday. We're well prepared and we're ready," he added. "There's going to be challenges all the way through the season but it's one we're really going to relish and enjoy."
