York City Knights' new captain Richard Blakeway is confident the club will do well in 2010. He was part of the squad that lost in the Championship One play-offs in 2009 and he told BBC Radio York they are looking to reach the final this year. "We've got a whole new team to be honest," he said. "There's only a few players that have stayed and we're looking to build. We've signed some good signings and I think we'll go really well." The 29-year old loose forward joined the Knights from Featherstone Rovers towards the end of the 2009 season initially on loan before making the move permanent. | We've got a good set of lads and we'll do good I think |
Blakeway said: "I came at the back end of the season when there were only something like seven games left. "Obviously I thoroughly enjoyed it but it's not the same as being at the start of a pre-season. "When I came here it was like a new lease of life and I really enjoyed it. "It's been very enjoyable. We've got a good set of lads and we'll do good I think." The Knights start their season against Leigh in the Northern Rail Cup on 7 February after their scheduled game at Rochdale on 30 January was postponed because of a frozen pitch. That game has been rearranged for 2000 GMT on 17 February.
