Hull KR (18) 30 Tries: Fox 2, Webster, Dobson, Newton Goals: Dobson 5
Salford (6) 12 Tries: M. Smith, Broughton Goals: Ratchford 2
Fox's two early tries gave Hull KR the perfect start
Peter Fox scored two tries as Hull KR began their Super League campaign with a straightforward win over Salford.
Both Fox's scores came in the opening seven minutes, with Michael Dobson adding the conversions to give the Robins the perfect start.
Matty Smith reduced the arrears for Salford but Jake Webster restored the home side's 12-point advantage.
Further tries from Dobson and Clint Newton made the game safe before Jodie Broughton went in for a consolation.
Hull KR coach Justin Morgan: "It was a fairly sound performance. We won the territory exceptionally well and made them come out of their end for a lot of the game and in those conditions it is hard for anybody.
"Our pack worked exceptionally well and Paul Cooke at loose forward worked really well with Jake Webster at stand-off.
"Like any new combination, it is going to take some time for them to find their feet but, with the number of times they challenged the line today, it is work in progress."
Salford coach Shaun McRae: "It was a poor start from us but we did tremendously well for for the remainder of the game.
"I am pleased about the way we fought. But that start set us back. I think seven out of the first 10 sets went to Hull KR.
"That couple of early tries gave them some confidence and energy and it took us a while to get into the game.
"Overall I did not think we deserved to win and Hull KR were better than us but I liked the way we fought and showed plenty of character in what was our first outing against Super League opposition."
