Boundary Park has been the Roughyeds' home since 1995
Oldham Roughyeds chief executive Chris Hamilton says he is seeking an urgent meeting with the town's council in a bid to help find the club a new home. Roughyeds, who had a winding-up order against them withdrawn 10 days ago, have been told by Oldham Athletic they cannot use Boundary Park next season. Hamilton told BBC Radio Manchester: "The next step is to secure somewhere for next year. "I'm trying to arrange a meeting with Oldham Council leader Howard Sykes." The Roughyeds have shared Boundary Park with the Latics for 14 years since selling Watersheddings, but Hamilton said he was hoping the council could help the club find a home of their own. | I want to have an urgent meeting with the council to see what assistance they can give us in terms of trying to make sure we can keep professional rugby league alive in Oldham |
"The council have got a big part to play," he said. "When Watersheddings was sold in 1995 there was a promise made that a new ground would be built, which didn't happen. "I'm not saying that was entirely Oldham Council's fault but since then the biggest problem the club has had is not having their own stadium. "So I want to have an urgent meeting with the council to see what assistance they can give us in terms of trying to make sure we can keep professional rugby league alive in Oldham, one of the heartlands of the game."
