Whitehaven's play-off campaign starts with a trip to Widnes on Thursday, after the Marras slipped to a 47-14 defeat by Leigh on Sunday. It was a bittersweet day for both sides, as Leigh were relegated despite their efforts, while Haven's hopes of a home play-off were dented by defeat. Ged Stokes's side had been weakened by the loss of four players prior to kick-off with a swine flu scare. The winner of the Widnes game will face the winner of Sheffield v Featherstone. The structure of the play-offs sees third face sixth and fourth play fifth, with the two winners vying for a place to play the loser of the first v second match. The winner of the eliminator final then takes on the winner of the first v second match in the Grand Final at Warrington's Halliwell Jones Stadium.
