Cullen believes the best is yet to come from his Widnes side |
Widnes coach Paul Cullen believes his defence are getting their rewards following the Vikings' 42-16 victory over Halifax on Friday. Cullen is confident his players will keep working hard to shut teams out as the end of the season approaches. "We're going to go back and work hard on our defence again - I thought it was massive against Halifax," Cullen told BBC Radio Merseyside. "We spoke about our defence all week. That pack is beginning to find itself." "That's out of respect of what Halifax did to us in the first team meetings this year and they beat us fair and square," Cullen added. "We weren't at our best on those nights. "But we just start looking like we're coming good. We really did peak for the Northern Rail Cup final - but we might be a bit in front of ourselves with that performance against Halifax. "So what we'll do - we'll not get carried away with it. We'll go back and work on our defence and conditioning and try and get a little bit more out of this team."
