Swinton coach queries salary cap

Swinton Lions coach Paul Kidd has questioned the value of a salary cap in the sport's lower divisions.

Kidd told BBC Radio Manchester: "At our level, I've always questioned how you can manage the salary cap because you are paying out [based on win bonuses].

"If you're nearing the cap do you say we can't afford to win [this game], because we'd be over it?

"I don't see how you can manage it as such at our level where it's on winning bonuses," he added.

"As far as Super League is concerned, you could say it's working in so far as anybody can beat anybody on their day.

"But it's got to be questioned if, when we come to the end of the season, the Grand Final is being competed for by the same sides for the third year running."
