Leeds (0) 20 Tries: Watkins (2), Leuluai Goals: Sinfield 4
Huddersfield (6) 12 Tries: D Hodgson, Brown Goals: B Hodgson 2
Kallum Watkins sprinted 90 metres for a last-gasp interception try as Leeds came from behind to beat Huddersfield. The Giants had been set for their first win at Headingley for 49 years after David Hodgson scored from Kevin Brown's pass to give them a half-time lead. Brown's try after the break made it 12-0 before Watkins scored from a Keith Senior pass to put Leeds on the board. Leeds continued to waste chances until Kylie Leuluai went over and right at the death Watkins scored the vital try.
Leeds coach Brian McClennan: "Our execution was down quite a bit. I can't remember how many times we thought we were going to score but didn't quite get there. "It would have been easy to think it's turning out not to be one of our days. It had that written all over it. "At least we persisted and hung in there. In a sense that's what makes the way we came back even more appealing. It was a real test of character and a real brave victory by the boys." Huddersfield coach Nathan Brown: "It's a bit disappointing but the pleasing thing is that at least the players thought they had a chance. When we first played Leeds I don't think they thought that. "It shows we're definitely making some progress. They should get some belief out of it. "There were a lot of ifs and buts but at the end of the day Leeds found a way to win and we found a way to lose."
