Widnes Vikings assistant coach John Stankevitch is looking to see an improvement following Thursday night's 26-22 defeat at Whitehaven. Widnes have a local derby at Leigh next Thursday night and Stankevitch says the team need to pick themselves up. "We need to get some confidence back and we need to do that quickly," Stankevitch told BBC Radio Merseyside. "There was some encouragement from the game with Whitehaven, but we got the loss which is a big disappointment." Stankevitch added: "Leigh have already beaten us once this year. "We've a whole week now to prepare for the game. "You never go into a game doubting yourself. You always go into a game expecting 100% commitment. "I think if we can show that for 80 minutes like we did against Whitehaven, it will be a very close game against Leigh."
