Salford's three-match winning run came to end as Catalans cruised to an eight-try victory in Perpignan.

The Reds started well with Stefan Ratchford scoring on 12 minutes but too many mistakes allowed the Dragons to take charge of the contest.

Dimitri Pelo (twice) and Remi Casty scored before half-time to give the Dragons a 14-6 lead.

It was one-way traffic after the break with the home side claiming five tries, Jean-Philippe Baile scoring twice.

Catalans Dragons coach Kevin Walters:
"I don't think the scoreline reflects the effort of Salford. You can see why they have won their last three. They played well but we played better.

"We wore them down and in the end it was a great win for us.

"The players are starting to realise what I want from them and the results are hammering the message home. Four wins on the bounce but a tough month to come."

Salford coach Shaun McRae:
"There were some poor decisions from us. We put ourselves under pressure. The crucial score was on half-time, the two players just didn't handle it. That was the killer.

"We were tired, emotionally and physically. Not only had we played two games at Easter but we travelled for 11 hours to get here and it does take its toll.

"The sunshine too, we didn't need a hot day. But take nothing away from Catalans, they are a very powerful side with very clever players.

"Casey McGuire and Greg Bird were too much for us on the day but I take a lot from this. Great effort from our players but a game too far."
