Defiant McNamara vows to fight on

Steve McNamara
McNamara says hard work and perseverance will see the Bulls through

Bradford coach Steve McNamara admits he can expect stick from angry Bulls fans but has vowed to fight on after Sunday's damaging home defeat by Hull.

"They can talk and say whatever they want about me, I'm absolutely fine about that. It is part and parcel of being a coach," said McNamara.

"But I'm very protective of my players. They can save any criticism for me and I will look after the players."

The Bulls have just one point to show from their opening four league games.

They currently lie 12th in the Super League table, with just Warrington and Celtic Crusaders below them.

"It's not always a bed of roses being a coach. We all love it when we are doing well and getting pats on the back," added McNamara.

"But the reality is this is what being a coach is all about.

"The side are not performing how they should do but we are doing a hell of a lot of things right.

"Through hard work and perseverance, we'll get there. A little bit of pressure gets thrown on to us but a couple of sleepless nights don't hurt anybody."

Bradford were 12-0 down after just five minutes against Hull, who eventually finished with six tries as Kirk Yeaman and Craig Hall grabbed two apiece and Richard Horne and Chris Thorman also touched down.

The Bulls kept the scoreline respectable with tries from Ben Jeffries, Rikki Sheriffe, Semi Tadulala and Steve Menzies.
