Workington have been handed a boost on the fitness of prop forward Dean Burgess, although he will miss Sunday's visit of York City Knights.

Burgess injured a knee but coach Dave Rotheram is confident he will not face too long a spell on the sidelines.

Rotheram said: "Dean saw a specialist on Monday and we don't think it's as damaged as we first thought."

On York, he added: "They've signed well during the off-season, we know that they're a stern test for us."
