Sheffield sign up PNG star Yere

Sheffield Eagles Cheif executive Mark Aston
Eagles chief executive Mark Aston wants to make the top four next season.

The Sheffield Eagles have signed the Papua New Guinea World Cup star Menzie Yere on a two-year contract.

The 25-year-old centre will arrive in in January 2009, and will join Kumuls forward Trevor Exton in Sheffield.

"He (Yere) is a very explosive, and a player that opposition teams will fear," Eagles chief executive Mark Aston told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"Menzie is a great catch for us, we are highly delighted. I think he can have as big an impact as Stanley Gene."
