York City Knights have re-signed influential hooker Paul Hughes on a new one-year deal.

Hughes was a regular in the Knights side last year, scoring eight tries in 26 appearances.

Coach Paul March said: "His signing is massive for the club. He brings so much to the team both on and off the field and his experience will be crucial.

"There were offers from other clubs but Paul is very happy here and staying at the Knights was his first choice."
