York Acorn are top of rugby league's National Conference Premier Division after their opening four games. Acorn are in the division for the first time in their history and are unbeaten so far this season. Coach Alf Hill told BBC Radio York they have proved their critics wrong after being tipped for relegation. "Division One is hard to get out of but when you are up in that top three you are well equipped to take Premier Division teams on." Hill added: "It's always a case of the new teams coming up from Division One who will probably be tipped to find it hard." Hill has a mix of experienced professionals and younger players and although it has been working well he said he would prefer a bigger squad. | I think the first aim has got to be to get to 20 points. "We haven't got a big squad and we're losing another player in a couple of weeks. "Danny Liddell has taken a job in the Middle East so we could do with another couple of players because if we got a batch of injuries we would struggle a little bit." After making such a good start Hill admits he is starting to increase his targets for the season. "I think the first aim has got to be to get to 20 points, I think if you get that you might be safe. "If we can get to 20 points as quick as possible then I'd say 'well look we've got to 20 by now lets look to get to 26, 28 and we're in the top six for the play offs'. "So I think our next goal is to get to 20 points as soon as we can and, if we can, we'll see how much of the season is left to see whether we can make the play offs."
