Castleford ran in 10 tries against Warrington to make a mockery of their position at the foot of Super League.

The Tigers could even afford to miss eight conversions as they recorded only their seventh league win of the season.

Michael Wainwright grabbed a hat-trick for the home side after Luke Dorn had opened the scoring with a fantastic length-of-the-field interception.

Stuart Donlan and Richard Owen also grabbed braces as the Wolves, who lost Lee Briers late on, were outclassed.

Castleford coach Terry Matterson:
"If you have a look at our record, we are the sixth or seventh best try-scoring team in the competition.

"Our defence has been an issue and our goal kicking isn't great. Two from 10 has certainly kept them in the game.

"We had to pick from 18 fit players, but all you need is 17 out on the field and they were all outstanding tonight. Our halves, Ryan McGoldrick and Luke Dorn, were excellent."

Warrington boss James Lowes:
"I'm a little bit shell-shocked, we got what we deserved.

"Cas ran harder than us and tackled harder than us and fully deserved to win by the margin that they did.

"We're heading into the play-offs and if that's the form that we're in then it will be very short-lived. I don't think anybody can be spared - across the board we were poor and a very distant second best."
