Dobson contributed 17 points to his side's total

Michael Dobson scored four tries as Hull KR turned on the style in the second half to power past Wigan.

Kirk Netherton struck first but Joel Tomkins levelled and two George Carmont tries sandwiched Dobson's first before Pat Richards put Wigan 16-10 up.

But after the break, Dobson quickly scored his second try and a converted Jon Steel touchdown restored parity.

Dobson then scored two more tries, and he added a drop-goal in between them, before Rhys Lovegrove went over.

The victory ended Hull KR's six-match Super League losing streak and gave a fresh boost to their hopes of sneaking into the play-offs.

The hosts took the lead in the fourth minute after Jake Webster had been held short and Netherton shot over from acting half.

Trent Barrett then put Tomkins away and the youngster went 40m to level the scores in the corner.

In the 23rd minute, the Warriors increased their lead when Thomas Leuluai found Carmont.

Three minutes later, Rovers pulled themselves straight back when Dobson forced his way over the line to score after Ben Fisher was halted short.

But Gareth Hock broke away in the 33rd minute following another penalty and sent in Carmont for his second try.

From the restart, some weak tackling allowed Sean O'Loughlin to put Richards away from just inside the Robins' half and the full-back converted his own score.

Seven minutes after the break, Dobson reached out an arm to score his second try before Rovers winger Steel beat three men in the corner.

Dobson completed his hat-trick shortly before the hour-mark with a kick through on the last tackle and Paul Cooke's conversion put Rovers back into the lead for the first time since the fourth minute.

Dobson then added a drop-goal in the 64th minute before bagging a fourth try 10 minutes later, with Cooke converting.

Lovegrove wrapped things up with an unconverted 78th-minute touchdown.

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan:
"Michael Dobson was outstanding - far and away the best number seven in the city.

"When we went further behind at the start of the second half, we just kept to our gameplan and the belief stayed with us. We built pressure on them, controlled the ball better and did not overplay.

"It's been seven weeks since we won and after each match we have said we've been working hard, but it's nice to get the rewards."

Wigan coach Brian Noble:
"We just did not touch the ball in the second half.

"And if you do not touch the ball, you do not score, and have to do too much on defence.

"Michael Dobson's kicking game kept us in our end of the field and Stanley Gene was superb for Rovers."
