Workington Town coach Dave Rotheram believes his players showed in their 16-14 defeat to Oldham they have the character to support a play-off bid.
Oldham's former Town favourite Mick Nanyn sneaked a late try to win the match but Rotheram is adamant his side are resolute enough to bounce back.
"There was belief that they can do the job, they came close against a quality team," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"Right across the park we had it over Oldham for most of the game."
Rotheram faces an injury crisis following knocks to Dean Burgess, brother Scott, Jamie Beaumont and Mark Routledge in the first period, and is unsure how soon they will be back in the side.
"I'm not sure there will be 17 who can stand up in the changing room on Saturday morning," he said.
"Hopefully I might get some reinforcements back next week."
