Gateshead dropped to second place in National League Two following a heavy defeat by Oldham Roughyeds on Sunday.

Oldham's full-back Paul O'Connor scored a hat-trick to help his team to a 40-16 victory and extend their winning run to five games.

Tries from Benjamin McAlpine and Neil Thorman, plus two goals from Danny Russell, were all Thunder could muster at Boundary Park.

Barrow Raiders leapfrogged Thunder to go top of the league by two points.
