Widnes coach Steve McCormack is urging his side to get back to winning ways ahead of Salford City Reds' visit to the Stobart Stadium on Thursday night. "Three games on the bounce without a win is disappointing," McCormack told BBC Radio Merseyside. "I think we are all feeling the effects of that, but the positivity is still around the place. "We have to get back to performing and the sooner we get a win under our belt, the better." Matty Smith could be in line to make his first start for Widnes against table-toppers Salford, following his loan move from St Helens earlier this week. After a promising start to the season, Widnes now find themselves struggling in ninth place near the bottom of the National League table. Both Widnes and Salford are in the running for a Super League franchise. An announcement on which 14 clubs have had their application accepted is expected next month. Full coverage of tonight's game can be heard on BBC Radio Merseyside 95.8fm, 1485am, DAB and online at bbc.co.uk/liverpool
