Player-coach Paul March scored two tries but was sinbinned late on |
York City Knights assistant coach James Ratcliffe had mixed feelings after his side's 46-24 win at Keighley. The Knights scored eight tries but Ratcliffe was upset at lapses which allowed the Cougars back into the game. Ratcliffe told BBC Radio York: "We just went away from our game plan in the second half. Better teams will come back and hurt us for that." York's late resilience with 11 men, due to sin-binnings, led Ratcliffe to say they had "grown as a team". He added: "The biggest plus point for us is that we've all bought into the unselfish work ethic which we're trying to bring into York. I'm really very proud of what they've done. | We want to be in the top end of the play-offs if we can York assistant James Ratcliffe |
"There's a lot of football in York at the moment and we can play a bit of rugby as long as we're at the right end of the park." The win consolidated the Knights top six place in National Two. After 12 games they are fifth, three points clear of the teams in seventh and eighth. Ratcliffe added: "We will now get ourselves fixed up for Barrow [at home] next week, we've got a bit of unfinished business with our performance up at Craven Park. "We want to be in the play-offs and we want to be in the top end of the play-offs if we can. We just need to approach one game at a time and then that will take care of itself."
