York City Knights chairman Roger Dixon has announced he will step down from the role at the end of the season. Dixon has been involved with the club since it formed in 2002 both as chairman and a director. He said in his column in the Knights matchday programme: "The Knights deserve more than I can give them at the moment. "I shall of course be delighted to continue my connection with the club (if required)." Dixon said the last six years had been 'some of the most exciting and demanding' of his life but stepping down would be in the best interests of the club. He went on: "Within the restraints of prevailing operational and financial resources, I have tried to do the best I can for the Knights but I appreciate that even more is required for progress to be underpinned. "The club needs an injection of some new talents and skills with the renewed energy and freshness which that brings in its wake. "I hope very much that others will come forward to offer their help and expertise; if this proves to be the case then I shall be happy to retire earlier if this was felt appropriate. "I should not want to stand in the way of fresh blood being given the opportunity to take the club forward."
