Clark targets success for Barrow

Rugby league

Barrow Raiders coach Dave Clark says he will do everything in his power to help the club to promotion this season, even if it means bringing in new players.

"It's tough but if a player comes to the club that can offer more than what we've got you have to think about the club," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"We want to achieve promotion and I think all the players know that.

"It takes a whole year to win that competition so all those players have played their part if we get there."

Cumbrian sport has enjoyed a fruitful year with Carlisle United, Kendal and Barrow AFC chasing promotion in their relative leagues.

And the Raiders' Australian coach can see the Raiders there or thereabouts in National League Two - if they can get over the tough tests ahead.

"We've got to compete every week, we've got good depth in the squad now and it's a great chance for us to do it," said Clark.

"We've only played Gateshead who have threatened us really. Over the next couple of weeks we've got Keighley, Doncaster home and away.

"Oldham as well who are challenging for top spot, so we've got lots of games to go yet."

Barrow take on Hunslet at Craven Park in National League Two on Friday 23 May.
