Knights half-back David March is fully fit after injury |
York City Knights coach Paul March says Sunday's League Two clash at home to Workington is a "massive" game. Both teams are still seeking their first win this season, with Workington losing to Blackpool last time out. Despite that March believes the Knights may be seen as favourites to win and said: "It's a different tag for us and it's how we cope with that tag. "We're just going to concentrate on ourselves and hopefully come away with victory," he added. It's the Knights' first game for a fortnight after a much-improved display at Oldham, but March is grateful for that break. "There were several players who were playing on injuries and it's given us time for those players to get over them," he said. | The last three weeks he's played on one leg Paul March on brother David March |
The main beneficiary is March's brother David who has recovered from his pulled hamstring, while full-back Danny Ratcliffe has recovered from a hamstring strain. The coach himself is not yet fully fit but is suspended anyway, as is Danny Ekis. Rob Spicer will start a game for the first time this season. With just two Northern Rail Cup draws and a few league bonus points to show for the season, March knows they need to impress the home fans on Sunday. "I believe things are coming together at the minute," he said. "It showed at Oldham where we put a 70 minute performance together. "If we can build up to an 80 minute performance I'm sure we can come away with victory." March expects his brother David to make a big impression now he is fully fit. Despite his injury the former Wakefield Trinity player has been named in the League Two team of the month as a loose forward, though the Knights coach plans to play him at half-back against Workington. "The last three weeks he's played on one leg and he's been immense for us. He's really toughed it out and been a leader for us. Hopefully everybody will see a different David March on Sunday," he added.
